Not only will you be a fully warranted and attested neighbourhood police officer on our National Graduate Leadership Programme, you will be developing vital skills in negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making. You will be emotionally intelligent, resilient and a leader. Every day you will be preventing criminals targeting the vulnerable and you’ll contribute to the increase in the public’s confidence in policing.

In order to achieve this, our police force must be diverse, in both thought and background to be reflective of the communities we serve.

How will I achieve this?

We don’t require you to have any previous policing knowledge or experience, only a willingness to learn and make a difference.  Your journey will start prior to our Summer Academy by completing your core learning of legislation and ethics, which you will use throughout the six-week intensive training and beyond.   

You will be allocated a Police Now Leadership Development Officer who will support your progression throughout the two years.

You will have regular opportunities to present the impact you have made in your community to policing colleagues and corporate partners.

When applying for the Police Now National Graduate Leadership Programme you will select your preferred force as well as any that you are also interested in joining.

We receive a large number of applications, so we advise you to complete your application as soon as you feel ready. Partner forces may be filled before the overall programme closing date.

What comes next?

Our recruitment process requires you to complete an application form and online assessment, followed by attending an assessment centre, after which you will be offered a conditional place on the programme. Upon accepting your offer, you will start the vetting and pre-employment check process, which will include a fitness and medical. Alongside this you will be invited to one of our induction events so you can start to get to know your fellow participants, as well as attending an induction event with your force. Following successful pre-employment checks, including having confirmation of your degree result, you will then start your six-week residential Summer Academy.

Throughout the recruitment and onboarding process you’ll be working with a dedicated Recruitment Officer who will be there to support you every step of the way.
