About Police Now

Our mission is to transform communities by recruiting, developing, and inspiring leaders in policing. We are working towards a day when every community, whatever the socio-economic background of its residents, can thrive without being fearful of crime and can feel confident in the police.

Launched in 2014, Police Now trains graduates with leadership potential to be inspirational police officers and outstanding crime fighters. Police Now is a start-up enterprise, and as such we are looking for individuals to join the team who have an entrepreneurial, flexible style and will contribute effectively to the creation and leadership of this growing organisation.

Everything we do reflects our values: Believe, Achieve, Develop. For more information on the work we do please visit www.policenow.org.uk

What you’ll do

Police Now currently works with 31 of the 43 Home Office police forces spread across the length and breadth of England and Wales. We co-deliver our programmes with our partner forces where Police Now participants work, so police forces play a central role in the achievement of our charitable mission.

Our Force Partnership Managers support the implementation of the programme in our partner forces. The continued expansion and success of Police Now is dependent on strong relationships with our partner forces. Your day-to-day activities will see you delivering against four core workstreams:

  1. Project managing the implementation of Police Now programmes in new and existing partner forces, drawing on the evidence base of what works, so that participants and their police officer and police staff colleagues have the best possible experience of the programme and can have the biggest positive impact in communities;
  2. Building strong relationships and awareness of the Police Now programme across our partner force with a view to supporting those already on the programme and future cohorts of Police Now participants.
  3. Sharing innovation and best practice amongst our partner forces and obtaining feedback from them so that we can constantly develop and improve Police Now and policing; and
  4. Acting as the voice of each partner force within Police Now, ensuring that force feedback is heard and reflected in how we develop our programmes and that we always strive to meet the needs of police forces, participants and the communities they serve.

You will need to develop a strong understanding of the partner forces you manage and collaborate with different people and functions within them to achieve your objectives. You will also work closely with all teams within Police Now to enable effective two-way communication between those teams and partner forces and to maintain your own knowledge of developments across the different Police Now teams.

Police Now Force Partnership Managers are expected to have a strong understanding of UK policing and to remain up-to-date with relevant news and developments in policing and across the graduate recruitment landscape. We are growing and evolving so you may take ownership of projects and workstreams that support the development of the organisation or our programmes and enhance our relationships with police forces and other stakeholders.

Who we’re looking for

We need someone who thrives building relationships, who enjoys getting out and about, picking up the phone and supporting an in-demand, socially beneficial product but who also has a real eye for detail, the ability to focus clearly on the task at hand and an ability to ensure that partner forces comply with the requirements of the programme.

You’ll be able to master detail and get up to speed with the intricacies of Police Now’s programmes quickly and possess the presence and gravitas to then present that information clearly in a way that inspires confidence in others and to respond effectively to challenging questions. You’ll be able to promote Police Now enthusiastically and effectively, drawing on your experience and coming up with innovative new ideas, but also manage expectations and avoid over-promising. You will take pride in delivering excellent customer service and accurate information to partner forces, Police Now participants and stakeholders. You will need to be a strong project manager and natural organiser able to manage your own workload whilst ensuring that forces are delivering what is needed from them.
