What you’ll do

Our Force Partnership Managers develop and maintain deep partnerships between Police Now and our partner police forces. You will develop a strong understanding of the partner forces for which you are responsible – their structure, challenges, culture and priorities – and work with them to ensure that they, and the communities they serve, get the very best out of the Police Now programme.


You will work closely with teams across Police Now, acting as a compelling voice for our force partners within the organisation and helping the broader team to understand our forces. You’ll need to stay up-to-date with developments across the different Police Now teams, coordinating different force-based hub meetings to ensure different departments achieve their requirements from forces to deliver the best possible service.


You will also lead of the programme’s implementation within our partner police forces to ensure they understand the programme, how to best support participants and their obligations to Police Now. You’ll communicate and negotiate with existing forces, work through the detail improving the programme, arrange visits and occasionally troubleshoot any difficulties so that our force relationships remain positive and productive.


You will also be responsible for increasing the number of Police Now officers each existing partner police force takes year-on-year and working with potential new forces in accordance with the growth strategy set out by the Head of Force Partnerships and Programme Director. What this means in practice is that you will conduct research and obtain market intelligence to help develop our knowledge of all police forces and spend time travelling around the UK for regular account management meetings or to present on the Police Now programme to force senior leadership teams and key individuals.


You’ll work with the wider network of Police Now stakeholders throughout the criminal justice and policing sphere, liaising closely with others involved in external affairs to ensure that messaging is consistent across our partnership and stakeholder landscape. Police Now is growing rapidly, so you’ll also be required to take ownership of additional projects that support the development of the programme and our relationships with police forces and other stakeholders as and when required.


Police Now Force Partnership Managers are expected to have a strong understanding of UK policing and to remain current with relevant news and developments in partner forces and across the wider graduate recruitment landscape.


Who we’re looking for

We need a people person who enjoys getting out and about, picking up the phone, forming new relationships and supporting an in-demand, socially beneficial product. You’ll be able to get up to speed with the intricacies of the Police Now programme quickly and possess the presence and charisma to then communicate about this in a clear, compelling and persuasive manner that inspires confidence in others.


A quick thinker, you’re able to respond effectively to challenging questions, both when they’re expected and when they’re not. You’ll be able to sell Police Now enthusiastically and effectively, drawing on your experience and coming up with innovative new ideas, but also manage expectations and avoid over-promising. You will take pride in delivering excellent customer service and accurate information to partner forces, Police Now participants and stakeholders.


Great emotional intelligence is a must – especially knowing when to stand firm and when to compromise, as are excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to deal with pace and pressure. You’ll have a real eye for detail and the ability to focus clearly on the task at hand.


Ideally, you’ll have experience of working closely with or for police forces already so that you understand their language, structure and core challenges and decision-making processes right from the word go.


You’ll be energetic, adaptable, optimistic and willing to work in a fast-moving, innovative start-up. You must possess a genuine commitment to public service and the Police Now mission, values and aims as well as a belief in personal responsibility and making a difference. You can prioritise, manage yourself with limited oversight and get things done in an environment where priorities and deadlines shift quickly.


What you need

  • A strong understanding of UK policing
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship building and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the UK and to work occasional evenings as required
  • High levels of customer service and strong attention to detail
  • Confidence in presenting and pitching to groups, including very senior individuals
  • Personal resilience and the ability to handle pressure, manage difficult conversations and diffuse conflict
  • Very strong organisation and project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience of customer relationship management systems may also be an advantage
