Description

Tenant Board Member – voluntary position

Our tenant-led ALMO Board is responsible for overseeing the running of the homes we manage. The Board is composed of Tenant Members, Council Members and Independent Members. Their role is to scrutinise the delivery of housing and all related services delivered to tenants, make sure our tenants are satisfied with the services they receive, and to scrutinise our expenditure.

As a Tenant Member you will be getting to grips with the key housing issues facing NCH and how we are responding to these. You will work closely with your fellow Board members to make sure we provide the best services to all of our tenants.

You will be expected to attend all Board meetings and events and undertake relevant training. You may also be asked to sit on our other Committees, and our Group Board which determines the overall strategic direction of NCH. So you’ll need to be able to commit sufficient time to the role.

The role requires good team working skills, as well as a willingness to question, challenge and support the Executive Management Team. We put our tenants at the heart of everything we do, so you’ll need to have a strong customer focus.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need previous experience of being a board member. But we do need people with high levels of knowledge and expertise in at least one of following areas:

  • Housing and estate Management
  • Corporate strategy
  • Social / affordable housing
  • Customer service
  • General financial management

We’ll expect you to uphold our values and objectives, and act as an ambassador for NCH. This includes acting responsibly and ethically, respecting confidentiality and respecting our commitment to equality and diversity.
