About the role

Due to the continued success and growth of our Contaminated Land Service Line, BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader, based in our Birmingham office

The role is mainly office based, with the successful candidate being responsible for the delivery and achievement of all specified key performance indicators including financial performance and team/people development objectives for the Birmingham Contaminated Land Team.

You will be given the responsibility for bidding for and successful delivery of both large complex projects as well as small specialist ones.  You will lead project teams and will be highly organised and technically independent, capable of providing clear and commercial advice on geotechnical and environmental considerations for the development of brownfield land.  The role will be focused on servicing both internal and external clients but will also have direct technical development targets.

A key element of the role will be to work with the Service Manager to improve the operational performance and client base of the Team.

About the team

Our Environment Group is made up of highly qualified individuals with extensive experience in the water, geotechnical and environmental engineering and planning disciplines.  The Group works either as part of multidisciplinary BWB project teams or independently for a range of key clients.  We provide timely and cost effective ground consultancy services to the development and property sector on projects of any type or size.  

About you

The requirements and demands of this important and challenging role are such that the Team Leader will be expected to consistently display the following personal attributes and skills:

  • Experience, knowledge and demonstrable capability in the areas of technical expertise essential to the delivery of Contaminated Land projects.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances.
  • Proactive approach with drive, positivity and enthusiasm and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Ability to prioritise team workloads and manage resources to ensure efficient delivery of projects.
  • Proven experience in developing, managing and maintaining QA systems.
  • Highly self-organised and able to deliver own and facilitate others, to deliver projects to time, quality and cost constraints.
  • Commercially astute with strong and effective influencing and negotiating skills, as well as a proven ability to develop and maintain their own Client base.
  • A decisive and inclusive management style, with ability to take responsibility and be held to account for all aspects of personal and team performance.
  • Able to build, develop and collaborate with high-performing teams in an environment that encourages individuals to fulfil their potential.
  • Reliable and trustworthy; acts with consistency and integrity at all times.
  • Keen to keep learning to improve own breadth of knowledge and technical expertise.
