About the role

BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader at Associate Level in the Water Service.  Based in Birmingham, this role will support the Service Manager and Technical Manager.

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for the delivery and achievement of all specified KPIs, including financial performance and team/people development objectives for the Birmingham Water Team and wider Service.

The candidate will be the lead individual representing the Water Service in the Birmingham office having overall operational management of technical, commercial and financial aspects of all projects in the region. A key element of the role will also be to work with the Service Manager, Technical Manager and Environment Group Accounts Director to improve the operational and commercial performance with internal colleagues and external Clients.

The role will develop as the Water Service Line and Environment Group develops.

About the team

The BWB Environment Group has the capability to provide the integrated ‘one stop shop’ service needed for major projects, as well as tailored or bespoke specialist services if appropriate. Our Environment Group provides advisory, investigative, design and validation services relating to all aspects of the ground and water environment.

The Water Service sits within the Environment Group which is made up of a range of qualified engineers and environmental consultants with particular experience in the flood risk, drainage, and environmental engineering disciplines. We have a presence in multiple locations across the business and provide supported opportunities for career development. 

The Water Service works either as part of multidisciplinary BWB project teams or independently for a range of key clients. We provide timely and valuable consultancy services to the development and property sector on projects of any type or size.

The team provides a comprehensive design and advisory service focused on meeting the engineering challenges involved in servicing the infrastructure requirements of regeneration and development projects.  We work across the transport, residential, commercial, industrial, health and retail sectors and our clients range from local and national developers and contractors to public sector bodies.  We aim to create a working environment that provides challenge, enjoyment and a real sense of satisfaction with a view to encouraging personal and professional development in all our staff.

About you

The requirements and demands of this important and challenging role are such that the candidate will be expected to consistently display the following personal attributes and skills:

  • Experience, knowledge and demonstrable capability in the areas of technical expertise essential to the delivery of Water Service projects.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances.
  • Proactive approach with drive, positivity and enthusiasm and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Ability to prioritise team workloads and manage resources to ensure efficient delivery of projects.
  • Proven experience in developing, managing and maintaining QA systems.
  • Highly self-organised and able to deliver own and facilitate others, to deliver projects to time, quality and cost constraints.
  • Commercially astute with strong and effective influencing and negotiating skills, as well as a proven ability to develop and maintain their own Client base.
  • A decisive and inclusive management style, with ability to take responsibility and be held to account for all aspects of personal and team performance.
  • Able to build and develop high-performing teams in an environment that encourages individuals to fulfill their potential.
  • Reliable and trustworthy; acts with consistency and integrity at all times.
  • Keen to keep learning to improve own breadth of knowledge and technical expertise.
