About the role

The Ecology team at BWB is growing rapidly and we are looking for a Consultant Ecologist to be part of this new and exciting chapter. The opportunity offers exposure to clients, challenging projects and career progression and crucially, you will have a say in the future direction of the team.

We are looking for an individual with at least two years of proven experience within an ecological consultancy to be based within our Nottingham office. The role will provide an opportunity for an individual to demonstrate a broad range of skills by undertaking specialist technical work, whilst working as part of a small, integrated, progressive environmental team. Our work is varied and widespread, supporting our clients on projects both locally and throughout the UK.

The role will include but not be limited to:

  • Undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals on a variety of sites across the UK;
  • Undertaking protected species surveys on a variety of sites across the UK;
  • Producing technical reports for a variety of clients;
  • Preparing fee quotations for clients;
  • Liaising with clients to answer queries;
  • Engagement with stakeholders and statutory consultees; and
  • The opportunity to influence the future growth and direction of the team.

About you

The successful applicant will be a consultant ecologist or a proven assistant looking to move into this position.

You will have a strong track record within your field and a thorough understanding of the planning process. In addition to this you will have a detailed knowledge of standards and guidelines, UK Wildlife Legislation and up and coming changes that will affect your specialist area.

You will have:

  • A Degree/ Masters in Ecology or a related subject;
  • At least 2 years’ experience within an ecological consultancy;
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills and a keen eye for detail;
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM);
  • Protected Species Licences would be advantageous; and
  • A full driving license.
