About the role

Due to the continued success and growth of our Contaminated Land Service Line, BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Geo-Environmental Consultant/Engineer.  Based in Leeds, this role will report into the Team Leader but will require the successful candidate to work with colleagues across the Service Line based in other locations.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and experienced in Geo-environmental consultancy with a proven track record in delivering Phase 1 and 2 investigations and potentially an involvement in remediation supervision works.

Sitting within our Contaminated Land team in Leeds, the successful applicant would be expected to research and complete Phase 1 Desk Studies, including the compilation of the conceptual site model, have input into the design of the Phase 2 site investigation, supervise the site investigation works, including logging, sample collection and in situ testing and completion of factual and interpretative reports. The applicant would also provide support to the Team Leader in regards to the preparation of fee proposals and assistance in regards to project and financial management.

About you

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, confident, self-motivated and willing to take the initiative, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ideally the successful candidate will have a master’s degree or equivalent in a geo-environmental discipline and be progressing towards Chartership with a relevant professional institution.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate good experience and working knowledge of the following areas of work:

  • Experience of managing and supervising Phase 1 and Phase 2 geo-environmental investigations including soil and rock logging, soil and groundwater sampling and in-situ testing.
  • Factual and interpretive report writing including Generic Quantitative Risk Assessments for human health and controlled waters.
  • Appreciation of ground engineering aspects of development projects.
  • Experience of preparing Environmental Assessments in support of real estate transactions.
  • Experience of preparing fee proposals.
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Experience and proficiency in using GIS and HoleBASE packages would be advantageous.
  • Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget with a strong focus on client care in project management and delivery.
  • Willingness to travel and a full driving license are essential to the role.
