About the role

BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to be based in our Birmingham office.

Your immediate and vital contribution will help this ambitious team to continue to exceed the expectations of clients and, in so doing, continue the development of the company.

Working on challenging and multiple projects simultaneously, you will be comfortable undertaking preliminary and detailed design of roads, drainage and external works in both the public (adoptable) and private realm.

The position is for an individual who we will expect to be fully conversant with our industry standard design software packages, Civil 3D (although extensive experience in the use of Microstation or PDS would be considered as long as there is a willingness to train on Civil 3D) and Microdrainage WinDES.

The right candidate must be capable of working independently in producing drawn details of their design work in the form of AutoCAD drawings for regulatory approval and construction. You must also demonstrate an aptitude, and preferably an ability, to effectively delegate design responsibility to others and act in a mentoring role to less experienced staff.

We are also looking for an aptitude or capabilities in an outward facing capacity as BWB’s representative in dealings with our clients on Technical Matters.

About the team

We are in the middle of very exciting times for the Transport & Infrastructure team and indeed for BWB as a whole. As well as recently celebrating our 25th anniversary, we are looking to grow this dynamic and integral team.

We provide a comprehensive design and advisory service focused on meeting the engineering challenges involved in servicing the infrastructure requirements of regeneration and development projects.

We work across the transport, residential, commercial, industrial, health and retail sectors and our clients range from local and national developers and contractors to public sector bodies.

We aim to create a working environment that provides challenge, enjoyment and a real sense of satisfaction with a view to encouraging personal and professional development in all our staff.

BWB’s Transport and Infrastructure Group combines this requisite expertise with innovative thinking. We also do it in a manner that enables us to focus on the delivery of high quality, value engineered infrastructure capable of serving our nation’s current and future needs.

Our talented and experienced design teams fuse local knowledge with national design standards and legislation in a manner that enables BWB to undertake a wide variety of projects ranging from local area traffic management improvements to complex multi-modal transport interchanges.

About you

With strong IT skills and a practical approach, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to work well in a team environment whilst also having personal initiative.

You will also be able to demonstrate strong communication and personal effectiveness skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels

We would welcome applications from experienced Senior Technicians looking to make their next career move and Graduate Engineer candidates who have two-years of post-graduate experience.
