About the role

BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Service Manager (North) within the T&I Design Service.

Based in either our Leeds or Manchester office, the role requires coverage of the northern region of the T&I Service and will report into the Service Director.

You will work as a Service Manager within T&I Design with overall responsibility for technical delivery and financial performance from T&I teams in Leeds and Manchester.

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for ensuring projects are appropriately resourced and, where appropriate, identifying opportunities for outsourcing work to the approved Supply Chain.

Responsibilities will include monitoring and reporting on the financial performance of the teams and leading on future recruitment strategies.

In addition there will be a requirement to work on a collaborative basis with the wider T&I Design Service management team to manage the Service from an operational perspective and see that appropriate focus is given to technical outputs.

About you

The requirements and demands of this important role are such that the individual will be expected to consistently display the following personal attributes and skills:

  • Currently an experienced Principal Engineer looking for their next challenge or looking for the next step in your management career within Transport & Infrastructure Design
  • Excellent communicator, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels both internally and externally
  • A ‘self-starter’ with drive, positivity and enthusiasm and a strong desire to succeed
  • Commercially aware with effective influencing and negotiating skills, as well as an aptitude to develop emerging and new client relationships
  • A visible and participative technical leader, willing and able to take responsibility and be held to account for the service that T&I Design
  • An ability to help build and develop a strong, collaborative relationship across the T&I Service and with the rest of the business
  • Technical independence within the field of T&I Design
  • Reliable and trustworthy; acts with consistency and integrity at all times
